Discipline

"Discipline is remembering what you want."David Campbell

Yesterday, I attended a very insightful and motivational meeting that recharged my battery. In all that was said, one quote resonated the loudest; and it was the above words. I immediately asked the young lady to repeat the quote.

If you are anything like me, a Gemini with ADHD, you know discipline is not our forte. My mind is in perpetual movement and I am inspired with idea after idea on a daily basis. At times, it is very difficult for me to focus on one idea. Currently, I am practising on development of one idea from beginning to end before moving on to the next best thing.

The statement also struck an accord because it inspires me to keep on keeping on by remembering my goals. As we all know, our country is mired in economic malaise; and, quite honestly, I know only one or two people who are not experiencing some sort of economic hardship.

Economic hardship is often very in your face and personal. We find ourselves frustrated because many of our the economic options or freedoms are absent. Sacrifice can be humbling.

Times like these require the utmost discipline (no longer able to splurge), prudent choices have to be made. By remembering what our goals are, we can best use our resources to navigate through the land of discomfort.

Power of thought - II

"A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty." Winston Churchill

Are you nice, patient and friendly only when things go you way? Does your facial countenance shift with the winds of fortune? Or, do you possess the intestinal fortitude to weather the storm?

In good times it is easy to be upbeat, positive and optimistic. The challenge is to maintain an upbeat disposition in trying times. In times of struggle and strife, far too many succumb to the torrential waves of pessimism.

But pessimism is a blinding affliction; it blinds the host from their blessings; because ironically, opportunity sows it's seeds in the soil of hard times, only to be harvested by those that understand the seasonal cycle of life.

First we form habits, then they form us. Conquer your bad habits or they will conquer you.
Rob Gilbert

The optimistic mind vigilantly guards against the addictive culture of pessimism.

Power of Thought - part one

Your thoughts produce the things in your life...

The above is a popular metaphysical refrain or truism. The message is simple and exact. Wealth, success, love, health; it is all about how we tap into our life force energy. Do you walk around pessimistically consumed with what is missing from your life? or Do you meditate on the potential of now - what can I make manifest via creative thought and action?

For myself, I will continue to divorce myself from people, places and things that generate negative energy. I will continue to seek out people that understand how to achieve. People that fully understand:

1) How to effectively communicate with others

2) The power of prayer and positive meditation

3) Positive thoughts need to be followed up with assertive actions

I fully grasp, conceptionally and practically, that nothing upsets an apple-cart like a woe is me thinker. I can testify, via personal experience, that nothing dampens the fire of desire like a person who can only see the downside of a venture.

When you spot such a person, exit stage right. It may be hard to initially spot this energy type because they can be so deep into personal denial, they believe they are playing the role of a realist. They function as they are the enlightened one that is asking the tough questions others overlook. Don't buy it!!! Their disquise thinly veils the fear and negativity that dwells within.

As one of my mentors once stated: Will power, Build power.

Vast Right Wing Conspiracy?

When you wonder how the de facto leader of the Republican party, Rush Limbaugh, manages to continuously spread hate, racism, sexism and overall xenophobia, via his vile radio show, just follow the money... as sister Fatimah Ali does on her article on Rush. THERE IS truly only one way to silence Rush Limbaugh.
Take him out.

But before you call the cops and accuse me of putting out a hit on America's favorite angry conservative, let me explain. The fact that anyone as mean-spirited as Limbaugh will reportedly earn nearly $400 million over the next eight years as he continues to spread his venom should give every American pause. It says volumes about his employer, Clear Channel, which just months ago signed him to a $38 million-a-year deal, then chose Inauguration Day to fire 1,850 of his colleagues.

It also speaks loudly about the 14 million Americans who reportedly listen to the man who actually said he hopes President Obama will fail.
